Welder Job Description

Job Role:

  • Perform welding tasks using various techniques such as MIG (Metal Inert Gas), TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas), and stick welding.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine the appropriate welding techniques and equipment required for each project.
  • Prepare metal surfaces by cleaning, grinding, or shaping them before welding. Select the proper welding equipment and ensure its proper setup and operation.
  • Weld components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions, ensuring precision and quality in accordance with specifications.
  • Inspect welds to identify defects, ensure compliance with standards, and make necessary repairs or adjustments.
  • Maintain welding equipment, tools, and supplies in good working condition.
  • Adhere to safety guidelines and procedures to maintain a safe and clean work environment.
  • Collaborate with team members, including engineers, fabricators, and project managers, to ensure efficient project execution.
  • Document work progress, materials used, and any issues or challenges encountered during the welding process.
  • Continuously update skills and knowledge by staying informed about industry advancements and best practices.

    • Requirements:

  • Completion of a welding apprenticeship or vocational training program is preferred.
  • Proven experience as a Welder with a strong portfolio of welding projects.
  • Solid knowledge and expertise in MIG, TIG, and stick welding techniques.
  • Familiarity with different types of metals, their properties, and welding procedures specific to each metal.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, drawings, and welding symbols.
  • Ability to operate and maintain welding equipment and tools effectively.
  • Strong attention to detail and precision in work.
  • Excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
  • Understanding of safety protocols and procedures related to welding activities.
  • Relevant certifications such as City & Guilds Welding qualifications or equivalent industry-recognized certifications are a plus.
